Aditya Agarwal shared his experience interviewing for an SDE Intern role at Optmyzr. The overall difficulty level was described as intermediate. The process involved four rounds.
Round 1: CV Shortlisting
Candidates were shortlisted based on their resumes. Emphasis was placed on having 3-4 good projects with proper backend implementation, not just single web pages. One of his projects, a social media Android app (Instagram clone), was particularly liked by the interviewer.
Round 2: Aptitude + Programming Round
This round included approximately 50 MCQs covering topics like Networking, Operating System, DBMS, Data Structures, and Algorithms (predicting output). Additionally, there were 2 coding questions.
Round 3: Technical Interview
This round deeply explored the projects mentioned in the CV. The interviewer asked about the projects, their functionalities, and implementation details. Technical questions were also asked from Operating Systems (e.g., difference between threads and processors) and DBMS (e.g., how to store passwords in a database). The importance of strong problem-solving skills in data structures and algorithms was highlighted.
Round 4: HR Interview
Standard HR questions were asked, such as "Tell me about yourself," "What are your weaknesses?", "What are your positive thoughts?", and "In what technologies would you like to work within a company?"
Tips: Aditya suggested focusing on competitive programming, learning one language thoroughly (like Java for its versatility), and then diving into Data Structures and Algorithms. He also advised having good quality projects with proper backend implementation and being truthful and well-prepared to discuss everything on your CV.
