The interview process for an SDE role at OpenText involved multiple technical rounds.
Round 1: JAVA, API Design
The interviewer focused on core Java and API design concepts. Questions included SOLID principles, Singleton Design Pattern, a Lambda expression problem, and Multithreading Concepts. The interviewer then moved to SpringBoot, asking about common annotations and instructing the candidate to design an API using appropriate design patterns. The candidate felt they "completely nailed this round."
Round 2: System Design, Behavioral, and Coding
This was described as the "toughest round." Questions probed the candidate's knowledge of the JAVA Memory Model and how they had fixed "Out Of Memory Error" in a previous project. The candidate was asked to draw the architecture of their current project and answer detailed questions about it. This was followed by more Multithreading questions and approximately 7-10 behavioral questions. Coding questions in this round included converting a linked list to a queue and finding permutations of a string.
