Difficulty: Medium (for 1st DSA round), Easy (for onsite DSA)
Rounds: 3+ rounds (1st DSA, Onsite loop, CTO round)
Topics Asked: Data Structures, Algorithms, Past Projects, System Design (implied in CTO round), Basic Tech Knowledge (locks, algorithms, time complexities)
The candidate reported a negative interview experience with Oleria Securities, citing multiple red flags throughout the process. The HR department was on leave, and the Head of India (HOI) managed various responsibilities, including candidate communication and monitoring Glassdoor.
The first round consisted of two medium-difficulty Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) questions. Following this, an onsite loop began, where two easy DSA questions were asked, one of which was "count number of island."
The candidate was informed of a 50 LPA CTC offer, which they found unbelievable given the interview level. They even received a joining gift (a bottle) before the final discussion with the CTO. Observations included a small office space, contradicting the HOI's claims of rapid company expansion.
During a coffee meeting, the HOI mentioned a high attrition rate and instances of employees being "pipped" (put on performance improvement plans) within a month, justifying it by calling the company an "MNC." The candidate noted that the interviewers lacked knowledge of time complexities for basic data structures.
The CTO round involved discussing past projects. The candidate mentioned that the CTO, despite having worked as a Principal Engineer at Microsoft, "lacked basic knowledge of tech like locks, algorithms etc." The candidate managed to explain their project.
Ultimately, the candidate was rejected, with the reason given that their projects did not align with the company's focus.
