This candidate interviewed for a 6-month Software Development Engineering and QA Internship at Nasdaq in Chennai.
Round 1: Online Assessment (October 19, 2024) The OA consisted of 30 questions to be completed in 1.5 hours. It included MCQs on Core Java, OOPS, SQL, Software Testing, and Excel. There were also SQL coding questions (SELECT and UPDATE queries) which carried higher marks than the MCQs. The candidate felt confident, especially about the SQL coding questions.
Round 2: Telephonic Round (Interview Confirmation - October 25, 2024) An HR representative called to confirm that the candidate was moving forward for both SDE Intern and QA Intern roles. This was a casual introduction, and the HR confirmed the in-person interview for October 29th.
Round 3: In-Person Interview (October 29, 2024) The interview lasted about 45 minutes. It started with a general discussion about the candidate's background, including family and personal interests. The panel reviewed the resume, asking detailed questions about an internship experience at PayPal, a research fellowship at IIT Bombay, and all listed projects. The candidate was asked to rate their SQL skills (rated 8/10). Two SQL tables were provided, and the candidate had to answer 12 out of 15 questions (5 easy, 5 medium, 5 hard). Intermediate-level Excel questions were also included. The candidate inquired about work culture and role-specific responsibilities, learning that work is team-specific and might initially involve Excel and internal tools, with potential future involvement in Core Java tasks.
