Aptitude Round: This round consisted of three sections: Verbal, Quantitative, and Technical.
Technical Round 1: The interviewer started with "Tell me about yourself." They reviewed the resume and asked to explain all projects in detail, including ER diagrams and flow. Questions were asked about sorting algorithms known, time complexity, and the complexity of known algorithms. The candidate was asked to write code for merge sort and a program to count the occurrence of a given character in a string. Questions related to extracurricular activities were also asked. A database of employee tables was displayed, and the candidate was asked to write SQL queries involving Joins, Group By, and aggregate functions. Other topics included Normalization and its types, the OSI model, and the use of the presentation layer. The interviewer also inquired about the candidate's educational background. The candidate asked about a typical day at Nomura and expectations from interns.
Technical Round 2: This round began with "Introduce yourself." Questions were asked about Java Collections Frameworks, different types of collections, and how to remove duplicate strings from a list. The interviewer presented a sheet of various programs and asked the candidate to explain the concepts, logic, flow, and output, along with follow-up questions. These programs were based on OOP concepts, DSA, Java Collections, lambda functions, and patterns. Project discussions continued, and a behavioral question about being a team player or individual player was posed, with follow-up questions on handling team differences.
HR Round: Questions included "Introduce yourself," experience at Microsoft Engage program, comfort with relocation, parental support, plans for higher education, and preparation for competitive exams.
Result: Selected as an intern at Nomura Holdings.
