This candidate, a final-year undergraduate from IIT Guwahati, shares their placement experience for a Semiconductor Engineer role. The recruitment process had two main parts: a test and interviews. The candidate was one of 7 students to receive a final offer.
Round 1 (Online Assessment - Technical and Aptitude): Held on the Hirepro platform, this test comprised approximately 30 questions. Topics mainly concentrated on Digital Electronics, Analog Electronics, Semiconductors, Control Systems, Signals & Systems, and Aptitude. A strong grasp of basic Electrical subjects was crucial. 39 out of 71 students were shortlisted.
Round 2 (Technical Round-1): Interviews were conducted offline on campus. The interviewer started with a self-introduction, then delved into the candidate's projects. The candidate's project on a "16-bit microprocessor" was discussed, with questions on memory units (e.g., handling internal errors like bit flips) and the process of decoding instructions and storing outputs.
Round 3 (Technical Round-2): The interviewer asked about the candidate's preference between Programming and Electronics. The candidate mentioned proficiency in DSA up to Graphs. Questions were asked about Trees, specifically "Zig-zag traversal of a tree". Another coding question was: "There is a classroom and students are coming and going out of the classroom. The details of the entry and exit times of students were given. Find the maximum number of students present in the classroom at a time over the whole time lapsed." Optimized approaches and pseudo-code were expected. The candidate fully answered the first and partially the second question. The interviewer accepted the approach after a few optimizations. The interview concluded after the candidate asked about various roles at Micron.
