This Media.net interview experience is for a Software Development Engineer role (6-month internship + FTE) from an on-campus drive in mid-August, as described in a January 2024 post. The entire process consisted of 5 eliminatory rounds, starting with an Online Assessment and followed by 4 personal interviews. The candidate was ultimately selected for the role.
Online Assessment (90 minutes)
The assessment had 3 questions, all described as LeetCode hard level. The candidate solved 2 questions fully and one partially, leading to shortlisting along with 9 other candidates.
Round 1: Technical Interview (CS Fundamentals + DSA)
This round began with introductions, followed by 10-15 minutes of CS fundamental questions on Operating Systems, DBMS, and Computer Networks, which were relatively easy. A DSA question, rated around 1700-1800 on Codeforces, was then given.
Round 2: Technical Interview (CS Fundamentals + DSA)
This round followed the same format as Round 1, with 10-15 minutes of CS fundamental questions before moving to a DSA problem. The DSA question initially appeared complicated, and the interviewer only provided vague constraints. The candidate took time to understand the question and dry-run test cases.
Round 3: Technical Interview (System Design + Projects)
This round started with CS fundamental questions again. The interviewer also discussed the candidate's projects, including a 5-10 minute discussion on the search functionality of one project.
Round 4: HR Round
This round was conducted by two university recruiters and involved general and situation-based HR questions, similar to common HR interview questions. It lasted around 45 minutes. The candidate received a selection call a few hours later.
