A 2023 graduate with over two years of experience as an SDE applied through the careers portal and received a call from HR within a week for a web development and full-stack SDE-1 role. The process involved an Online Assessment (OA) and multiple interview rounds.
The OA was conducted on HackerRank and included two questions: one on React (using states) and another on Flask.
Round 1 was a technical interview primarily focused on the candidate's projects, the tech stack they had worked on, and questions related to databases and system design.
Round 2 was a pair programming round. The questions were similar to those in the OA, but the interviewer also asked for the rationale behind specific lines of code.
Round 3 was a Personal Experience Interview (PEI) round. Unexpectedly, it also included questions on a case study, which the candidate was not anticipating for an SDE role and thus took lightly. This was followed by behavioral questions where the interviewer expected deep dives into issues and conversations. Unfortunately, the candidate did not progress past Round 3 to the final round and was rejected.
