Topics Asked: Logical Reasoning, Aptitude, Data Structures & Algorithms (Cycle Length, Anagram Substring Search), Machine Learning (accuracy, precision, F1 score, model assessment, regression models for credit score), NLP, OOPS (ACID guarantees, Static keyword, Const vs enum, Exception handling, custom exceptions in Java), System Design (persuading to use new tech), Behavioral.
Moneyview visited VIT Vellore campus in November 2021 for SDE and Data Scientist roles. The eligibility criteria included an 8 CGPA, and 800 students were shortlisted for the first round.
Round 1: Online Test
The online test was conducted on the HirePro Platform. It consisted of 30 MCQs covering non-technical areas like logical reasoning and aptitude. The main challenge in this round was the time constraint, requiring candidates to be very fast. Practicing MCQs from platforms like Indiabix was suggested as helpful. There were also two coding questions: "Calculate Cycle Length of all integers between 2 Integers and print the max cycle length" (Easy Difficulty) and "Find all occurrences of String A or anagrams of String A occurring in String B" (Medium Difficulty, linked to GeeksforGeeks' Anagram Substring Search). Additionally, there was one subjective question requiring an algorithm for a real-life problem statement.
Round 2: Technical Interview 1
The interviewer was friendly and started with a general introduction. Questions primarily revolved around the candidate's projects. Since both projects were related to ML and NLP, the interviewer asked several questions about accuracy, precision, how the F1 score is calculated, and how a machine learning model can be assessed. A question was posed about how Machine Learning concepts could be used in Moneyview, to which the candidate suggested using regression models for credit score analysis, which satisfied the interviewer. The interviewer then moved to a DSA question, which took about 30 minutes to solve. The interviewer was helpful, and even though the candidate couldn't fully solve it, the proposed approach passed more than 3/4th of the test cases, satisfying the interviewer. Towards the end, basic OOPS questions were asked, including "Explain ACID guarantees," "Use of Static Keyword," "Difference Between Const and enum," and "Why Exception handling is used and what is the use of custom exception in Java."
Round 3: Technical Interview 2
This round also started with project discussions. The interviewer asked a managerial question: "How will you persuade us to use new tech when you find out that new and better tech can be used for solving problems?" The candidate answered by emphasizing the benefits, impact on scalability, and efficiency. Following this, two DSA questions were asked: "Count the number of subarrays with sum K" and "Find if a cycle exists in a directed graph". The candidate was able to solve both.
Round 4: HR Round
This round was described as very relaxed, almost a formality to gauge the candidate's interest in the offer. The HR asked about family background, schooling, why engineering was chosen, and other general questions.
