Mathworks EDG visited the campus for a recruitment drive in 2022. The process included five rounds.
Round 1 was an Online Test of 90 minutes. It comprised sections on Mathematical Reasoning, C-based MCQs, C++/Java MCQs (attempt any one), Python MCQs (bonus), and two coding questions. The coding questions were "Maximum Difference Between Increasing Elements" (from GeeksforGeeks) and "Cherry Pickup" (available on LeetCode).
Round 2 was a Group Discussion (GD) lasting 15 minutes. The topic was "Teamwork and individual work". This round had two parts: everyone spoke for a minute to give their thoughts, and then chances were given to provide additional inputs on others' thoughts.
Candidates shortlisted for interviews had the next three rounds in random order.
Round 3 was a Managerial Round, lasting 45-50 minutes. It started with an introduction, and the interviewer emphasized answering questions with real-life examples. Questions included understanding of EDG, personal and technical areas of improvement, handling disagreements with mentors/team members, location preference, time management with piled-up tasks, handling pressure situations, dealing with deadlines, and what excites the candidate most about MathWorks.
Round 4 was a Technical Round, lasting 60 minutes. The interviewer used a HackerRank IDE to paste code snippets and asked for outputs with proper reasoning. Codes were related to basic C and C++ concepts and OOPs. Specific output questions covered dynamic memory allocation in C/C++, `malloc` and `calloc`, `struct` vs `union` vs `enum`, use of header files (`#include`), and the difference between `#define count 10;` and `const int count = 10;`.
Round 5 was an HR Round, lasting 30-40 minutes. After introductions, general HR questions were asked. Examples included handling urgent tasks when having personal plans, resolving conflicts between team members, working with new technologies, and location preferences (Bangalore or Hyderabad) with reasons.
