Experience:

The candidate applied via campus placement at VNR VJIET, Hyderabad, and was interviewed in August 2024. The process involved 4 rounds in a single day, and results were declared immediately based on cumulative performance.

Round 1: Aptitude Test (Elimination round): This test lasted 30 minutes and consisted of 30 questions. Questions covered various domains including Java programming, C programming, verbal ability, general aptitude, and core computer science concepts, mainly focusing on OOPs (inheritance) and pointers. Only 25 out of 700 candidates were shortlisted from this round, and there was no elimination after this stage.

Round 2: Coding Test Round: The coding test had 3 questions to be solved in 60 minutes. The questions were of easy-medium difficulty and all three were asked on strings.
Specific questions mentioned:
1. Lexicographically smallest string formed by removing at most one character.
2. Given two numeric strings of equal length, the goal is to minimize the absolute difference between the two numbers by swapping digits at the same positions. The task is to find the minimum number of swaps required.

Round 3: Group Case Study Round: The group discussion went on for about 35 minutes (originally planned for 30 minutes) with 13 participants. The team was provided with instructions on a couple of sheets of paper. This was followed by a presentation session of 5 minutes, which extended to 10 minutes. The topic was: "The company wants to introduce crypto-currency in their trading system. What should be the business and technical planning strategies for the implementation."

Round 4: One-on-one Interview: Each candidate's interview averaged around 45 minutes. Candidates were asked to explain their approach for the coding questions from the previous round. Basic coding questions were also asked. Additionally, a puzzle was given to solve: "Three friends plucked some mangoes (<100) from a mango grove and collected them together in a pile and took nap after that. After some time, one thief came and divided the mangoes into three equal numbers. There was one mango extra. He ate it, took one part for himself and left. Next the second thief came unaware of what has happened, divided the rest of the mangoes into three equal shares."
