Shashwat Gupta from NIT Surat shared his experience for a Data Analyst role at Aspect Ratio. The hiring process involved an online test, an offline classroom test, and two interview rounds.
Online Test:
This round consisted of approximately 20-25 aptitude questions and 3 coding questions. The topics included Data Interpretation (reading data from graphs like car sales figures) and Quantitative Aptitude, which was described as being around 50-75% the difficulty level of CAT exams.
Offline Classroom Test:
About 122 students were shortlisted for this round. It had 15 questions focusing on Aptitude and Data Interpretation. A key aspect of this round was that candidates not only had to provide the answer but also write down the justification or their approach to solving the problem.
Round 1 Interview:
This round started with a self-introduction. The interviewer asked questions related to Data Interpretation (e.g., from car sales graphs) and Quantitative Aptitude. A puzzle based on gender and blood relations, involving equations, was also asked.
Round 2 Interview:
Conducted by a senior employee, this round included questions on Standard Deviation (graphs) and a business case study requiring the candidate's approach. Another puzzle, also gender-based, was presented. Specific questions included a probability problem about population growth, gender ratio, and family planning scenarios (e.g., stopping family planning after a boy is born). A case study related to vaccine distribution (Covaxin, Covishield, and a new hypothetical vaccine like Cocat during June 2021) was also discussed.
Tips and Suggestions:
Shashwat advised enjoying the first year of college and becoming serious about placements in the third year. He mentioned that about 6-7 months of dedicated preparation for data analyst roles could lead to expertise. He emphasized that for this role, extensive DSA (Data Structures and Algorithms) expertise isn't as critical as for coding profiles, but basic loops and fundamental concepts are necessary to qualify for interviews.
