Topics Asked: SQL, Python Puzzles, Case Studies, Aptitude
The candidate, Jishnu, shared his interview experience for an Analyst role at Aspect Ratio. The process consisted of two rounds.
Round 1: Technical Round
This round focused on SQL, Python puzzles, and aptitude. Jishnu mentioned he was more confident in SQL and managed to steer the interview towards SQL. He was given a laptop to solve a query and then a pen and paper for a hard-level SQL question, which he solved using five CTEs (Common Table Expressions). Following the SQL questions, some easy puzzles and aptitude questions were asked.
Round 2: Case Study Round
The second round was primarily a case study. Jishnu described it as an "unusual" and "unconventional" case study. His strategy was to "think loud" and observe the interviewer's facial expressions to gauge satisfaction and rectify any mistakes immediately. He emphasized the importance of communication and confidence, stating that he was able to "divert" the interview using these skills.
Tips and Suggestions:
Jishnu highlighted that communication and confidence are crucial, even if technical skills are slightly weaker. He advised speaking loudly, articulating thoughts, and being confident. He also mentioned that resume framing and mock interviews (especially for case studies and estimations) were very helpful in his preparation. He also suggested staying in touch with DSA and Python coding for those switching domains from SDE to Data, as some companies might still ask coding questions.
