The candidate secured an SDE Intern opportunity after reaching out to employees on LinkedIn for referrals. The HR called the next day, scheduling the technical interview for the same day.
Technical Interview (1-1.5 hours):
This round was challenging. Interviewers tested knowledge of OS and DBMS, and asked to write a few SQL queries. A unique system design question was posed: "If I have an interface that only executes or compiles C++ and I have to give an SQL query as input to that interface, it will give me the required output as per the query. Now I need to design the interface."
HR Interview (20 minutes):
Two days after the technical interview, the HR interview was scheduled. This round involved basic HR questions with no technical questions.
The candidate received an offer, but the internship required immediate joining and was work-from-office. As the candidate was in the 7th semester, the college did not allow WFO internships. A request for Work-from-Home (WFH) was denied by HR, leading to the rejection of the offer.
