This interview experience for a Software Engineer (SWE) role at KFin Technologies highlights a structured process that tested problem-solving, SQL expertise, development knowledge, and personality fit.
Round 1: Online Assessment (OA)
The online assessment had a duration of approximately 90 minutes and was conducted on the WECP platform. It focused on Aptitude, SQL, and Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA). Key questions included aptitude-based MCQs, two medium-to-hard level SQL queries, and two medium-to-hard level DSA coding problems. The candidate noted that the SQL and DSA questions were conceptually strong, and time management was critical. This round was considered the most challenging stage due to strong SQL and DSA problems under strict time limits.
Round 2: Technical Interview
This round lasted about 1 hour and was conducted offline (live, in-person). The focus was on resume-based technical skills, SQL, and role-specific problem-solving. Questions covered skills and technologies listed in the resume, scenario-based technical questions relevant to the role, and medium-level DSA problems that required live coding during the interview. SQL query writing was also part of this round. Deep clarity on resume topics and hands-on application of concepts were crucial.
Round 3: Technical + HR Interview
The final round was an offline, live, in-person interview lasting between 30 to 45 minutes. It was a mix of technical validation and HR evaluation. Technical questions included easy-to-medium DSA problems, development concepts, and SQL basics. HR questions assessed personality traits, strengths/weaknesses, teamwork, adaptability, and career aspirations. The candidate emphasized the need to balance technical accuracy with confidently handling HR-driven behavioral questions.
Post-Interview Reflections:
The overall process was described as structured, practical, and fair, giving equal importance to technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, and cultural fit. Confidence in resume points was crucial as most technical discussions stemmed from it.
