Experience:

Jayant from Thapar University shared his interview experience for a Software Engineer role at Jubilant FoodWorks.

Overall Process: There was a preliminary coding contest (Online Assessment) followed by two rounds of interviews. A CGPA cut-off of 9 was applied, after which around 100 students were selected for the written test/online assessment. Approximately 30 students were then shortlisted for interviews, and only two were finally selected.

Round 1: Online Assessment
This round included aptitude questions and a couple of coding questions. The coding questions were DSA-based, described as a "basic array question" that the candidate could solve in under five minutes. The main focus was on MCQs covering CS fundamentals. The difficulty for DSA was easy.

Round 2: Technical Interview 1
This round started with an introduction and resume review, where the candidate was asked to explain projects. It also comprised two DSA questions. One was described as a "hard array question" involving array manipulation, where the interviewer initially was not satisfied with the brute-force approach, pushing for an optimized solution. The candidate eventually cracked it. The round also included some standard HR questions.

Round 3: Technical Interview 2 + Managerial/HR
This round involved a technical discussion followed by managerial and HR questions. The interviewer first asked the candidate to write the schema of a project (backend design) and then posed hard-level DBMS queries related to that schema.

Another DSA question was asked, a medium-level Linked List question, described as a standard problem found in common DSA sheets.

OOPs questions were asked, focusing on the four pillars. Two or three OS questions were also included.

Finally, standard HR questions like "Why do you want to join this company?" and "What is your favorite hobby?" were asked.

Result: Jayant was one of two students selected.

Tips: For good placements, focusing on strong friendships during engineering can also provide support. For technical preparation, consistent effort is key, and not to be demotivated by others' progress.
