This experience details an on-campus placement drive for a Graduate Engineer Trainee in the EEE (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) core field at JSW in 2023.
Technical Test: This was a 45-minute test with approximately 40-50 questions. The test was 60% technical (core EEE) and 40% English and general questions.
GD Round: The Group Discussion involved about 8-9 students and covered two topics within 30 minutes. One topic mentioned in a related discussion was "privatization". The candidate initiated the discussion and performed well.
PI Round (Technical + HR): This round was a Personal Interview, which lasted around 50 minutes for this candidate, longer than for others. The interviewer began by asking if the candidate was already placed in any other companies. The interview was highly technical, with the interviewer rapidly asking 50-60 questions, often moving to the next question before the previous answer was fully completed. Questions focused on core EEE subjects, specifically electronics and systems. The candidate's internship project on an inverter was discussed in detail, including specifications and efficiency. Thorough knowledge of the resume was crucial. Questions were also asked from 6th-semester subjects like wireless communication, optical communication, information theory, and coding. A key point for core companies is a medical round, where color blindness is a critical check.
