This experience is for an AVP/SDE3 (Grade 602) position, with the interviews taking place in June 2024. The candidate had 5 years of experience. The process involved 3 elimination rounds, and the entire process took only a week.
Round 1 (1 hour): Coding
This round was taken by a VP and involved two coding questions.
The feedback for this round was positive, and the next round was scheduled for the same day.
Round 2 (1 hour): Java Interview
This round was taken by an SDE3. It started with brief introductions, followed by the candidate explaining one of their projects. As the position was Java-focused, many questions were asked about Java and Spring.
The candidate, having 5 years of experience with Java & Spring, was able to answer the questions, sometimes explaining by example when the literal definition was not recalled. The interviewer was supportive. Positive feedback was received, and the final round was scheduled for the next day.
Round 3 (1 hour): HM + Behavioral
This final round was with an Executive Director. It began with introductions. The interviewer asked the candidate to explain the design of a recent project, including follow-up questions. The second part focused on behavioral questions:
The candidate used the STAR technique for behavioral questions, and the interviewer was impressed. After 2-3 days, the candidate received a call confirming selection. Although selected, the candidate ultimately didn't join JPMC due to another offer.
