This was an on-campus placement drive at IIT (BHU) Varanasi for the Software Engineer Program (SEP) in 2023. The process included one coding test and three rounds of interviews.
Coding Test (1 hour):
Conducted on the HackerRank platform, it had two questions of easy to medium difficulty. The candidate was able to complete both questions in 5 minutes and passed all test cases, leading to shortlisting for interviews.
Round 1 (60 minutes approx.): Technical
The round began with an introduction and resume discussion. Two interviewers asked questions about Data Structures and Algorithms, specifically focusing on Hash Maps (what it is, its structure). The candidate was also asked to design a system using IoT and how it could be implemented, and to write code to sort an array, explaining its time and space complexity.
Round 2 (25 minutes approx.): Tech + HR
This round had a mix of technical and HR questions, focusing on soft skills and conveying ideas. The interviewer asked about a Django project mentioned on the resume, discussing what Django is, how it works, and why it was chosen over other frameworks. Behavioral questions included "what do you know about JPMC" and "why do you want to work with the company."
Round 3 (10 minutes approx.): HR
This was a very light round with no serious HR questions. Questions included family background, place of residence, and location preferences (Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad). The interview concluded with a warm handshake.
The candidate received an offer.
