Experience:

A final year CSE student from NIT shared their experience for the Application Engineer role at IDFC First Bank during on-campus hiring in 2022. The process consisted of 3 rounds.

Round 1 was an Online Assessment on the HirePro platform with four parts: Aptitude test (15 MCQs), Verbal Test (20 MCQs), C and Java programming questions (20 MCQs), and 2 easy-level coding questions. 22 students were shortlisted for the next round.

Round 2, Technical Interview 1, lasted 30-40 minutes on Microsoft Teams. The interviewer was friendly and started with introductions. Basic questions about the candidate's projects were asked. Then, a DSA problem "Find a repeating and a missing number" was given, which the candidate solved from brute force to the most optimized approach. Following this, OOPs concepts like pillars, polymorphism (types and implementation) were discussed. The interviewer was satisfied, and 11 students were shortlisted for the next round.

Round 3, Technical + HR Interview, began with the candidate's introduction. The interviewer asked for a detailed explanation of internship experiences. Another coding problem, very similar to the Two Sum problem, was given, requiring an explanation of the approach and then coding in any editor, along with time complexity analysis. The interviewer was supportive and satisfied with the approach. Finally, behavioral questions like "Why would you want to join them?" and if the candidate had any questions were asked. 8 students were selected, and the candidate was one of them.
