This was an off-campus interview experience for the Associate System Engineer (ASE) role at IBM, described as a "weirdest interview experience."
Round 1: Codeknack
This was the first round, which the candidate passed.
Round 2: English Assessment
Scheduled on the same day as Codeknack, this round was also cleared by the candidate.
Round 3: Group Discussion (GD)
An email for the GD round was received, scheduled for January 18, 2024. This was an offline round that consumed the whole day, but the overall experience was "okayish," with most participants being selected.
Round 4: Interviews
Interviews were held on January 19, 2024. Despite being at the IBM interview location, the interviews were conducted online via laptops, which the candidate found "quite weird." The difficulty varied, with some finding it easy and others hard. Questions were mostly based on the candidate's resume. The candidate received a selection mail within two days.
Post-Selection Events: After receiving the selection email, only 5 of the selected candidates initially received an Expression of Interest (EOI) and joining offer for February 18, 2024. However, on February 12, 2024, 10 more candidates, including the author, received an email for *another* interview. This re-interview was an elimination round and was described as "little tough." The author regretted rejecting other offers. Eventually, many, including the author, received rejection emails by March 1, 2024. The joining dates for the first batch were also shifted. The overall process was considered "very bad experience" and "like a scam."
Tips: The candidate advised not to consider oneself selected until the joining date is confirmed and to accept the first offer received as a fresher in a tough market.
