The candidate applied via a referral and received a call from a recruiter a week later for a problem-solving round.
Round 1 (DSA - BarRaiser 60 mins): This round was conducted on the BarRaiser platform. Two coding questions were asked: "Search in Rotated Sorted Array" (LeetCode) and "Inorder Successor in BST" (LeetCode). The candidate completed explaining the approach and coding the solutions with 7 minutes remaining. Following this, 6-7 different Java questions were asked. The candidate rated this round as a "Strong Hire."
Recruiter Call: After the first round, the recruiter called to discuss overall work experience and current organizational responsibilities, mentioning two more rounds would follow.
Round 2 (DSA - 80 mins): This round started with questions about the candidate's current project and contributions. A coding problem on "BFS on Grids" was given, which the candidate found familiar. A follow-up question involved finding the total paths using DP and Memoization, and the candidate was asked to code both solutions. The self-verdict for this round was "Strong Hire."
Round 3 (HM Round - 50 mins): This round began with introductions. The Hiring Manager seemed confused during the candidate's explanation of their work and interests, frequently probing for clarification. There were also network and electricity issues on the HM's end, causing disconnections. The interview concluded over the phone. Despite the technical difficulties, the candidate received an offer after a week.
