The recruitment process for the SDE 1 role at InMobi consisted of an online assessment followed by three in-person interviews.
Online Assessment: This round had 3 DSA questions ranging from Easy to Medium difficulty. One was a simple ratio problem, another a sliding window problem, and the third a DSA question on DP/Binary search. Out of 120 students, 18 were shortlisted based on this assessment.
Technical Round: The interviewer was friendly and started by reviewing the candidate's resume, asking about internships and projects in detail. This was followed by two DSA questions. The first was similar to "Rotate String" but involved words separated by spaces, where the interviewer sought multiple solutions rather than just an optimal one. The second question was "Roman to Integer." This round lasted about 1 hour.
Tech/Managerial Round: Out of 18 students, 10 were shortlisted for this round. It began with an easy DSA question: "Delete the Nth node from the end of the given linked list." After solving this, the discussion shifted to system design concepts, including Load Balancing, Shared Procedures, Concurrency, and different architectural patterns.
HR Round: This was a purely non-technical round. The interviewer asked general HR questions, including origin and how the candidate would react to different situations. This round lasted around 45 minutes. The final selection of 5 students was based on performance across all rounds.
